Transistor Radio is a paid, one-time-purchase iOS app for listening to live internet radio. It is built with a strict privacy-first stance — no accounts, no tracking, no analytics, no advertising SDKs.

All signal. No noise.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personally identifiable information. Specifically, we do not collect:

  • Your name, email address, or phone number
  • Your location — the app does not request location permission
  • Device identifiers such as IDFA or IDFV
  • Usage analytics, crash logs, or telemetry
  • Listening history shared with any third party

No third-party analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs are bundled with the app.

Information Stored On Your Device

The app stores the following data locally on your device only. None of it leaves your device except as described in Section 03:

  • Favorite stations
  • Recently played stations
  • Your country, language, and genre preferences
  • Trial start date — stored in the iOS Keychain
  • Purchase status — managed by Apple's StoreKit

We do not operate any server that backs up, syncs, or stores this data. If you have iCloud Backup enabled, your device may include app data in your personal iCloud backup. That backup is managed entirely by Apple and is subject to Apple's privacy policy.

You can clear all locally stored data at any time from within the app: Settings → Data → Reset All Data. This removes your favorites, custom stations, recently played, and preferences from this device. Your purchase is unaffected.

Network Requests

The app contacts three external services to function. None of these requests include your name, account, device identifier, or location.

Radio-Browser
api.radio-browser.info

An open, community-maintained directory of internet radio streams. Queries include only search terms (country, language, or genre) and a User-Agent header identifying the app. No user identifier is transmitted.

Supabase
read-only curated content

The app reads a small set of curated stations and station override records from a read-only database. These requests are anonymous, use only a public API key, and contain no user identifier. There is no write path from the app to this database.

Station Streams & Artwork
direct from broadcaster servers

When you play a station, the app requests audio and image files directly from the station's own server. The station operator may see your IP address as part of serving those files — standard behavior for any internet radio player.

Feedback Emails

If you tap "Report Broken Station," the app opens your default email client with a pre-filled message containing the station name, station ID, stream URL, genre, country, and basic device information such as app version, iOS version, and device model.

Nothing is sent until you tap Send in your mail app. We receive only the email you choose to send.

In-App Purchases

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple via StoreKit 2. We do not receive your name, payment method, or billing address. Apple provides us only with an anonymous confirmation that a valid purchase exists.

Children's Privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL and the date at the top of this page will change.
